Types of Manuscripts
ITEJ welcomes the following types of submissions:
- Original Research Articles: Reports of original empirical research (4,000-8,000 words)
- Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews of specific topics in educational technology (5,000-10,000 words)
- Short Communications: Brief reports of preliminary findings or innovative methods (2,000-3,000 words)
- Case Studies: Detailed analysis of specific educational technology implementations (3,000-5,000 words)
Word counts exclude references, tables, and figures.
Manuscript Preparation
Language
Manuscripts must be written in clear, grammatically correct English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscript professionally edited before submission.
Title
- Concise and informative (maximum 15 words)
- Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible
Abstract
- 150-250 words
- Should be structured: Background, Purpose, Methods, Results, Conclusions
- No references or abbreviations
Keywords
- 4-6 keywords
- Avoid general terms, multiple concepts, and abbreviations
- Use terms suitable for indexing
Main Text Structure
Research articles should follow the IMRAD format:
- Introduction: Background, literature review, research gap, and objectives
- Methods: Research design, participants, instruments, procedures, data analysis
- Results: Findings presented clearly with tables/figures
- Discussion: Interpretation, implications, limitations, future research
- Conclusion: Key findings and contributions
Tables and Figures
- All tables and figures must be cited in the text
- Tables should be editable (not images)
- Figure resolution: minimum 300 DPI
- Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, TIFF for figures
- Provide descriptive captions for all tables and figures
- Number tables and figures consecutively (Table 1, Table 2... Figure 1, Figure 2...)
References
- Follow APA 7th Edition format strictly
- Minimum 20 references for research articles
- At least 50% of references should be from the last 5 years
- Include DOI for all references where available
- Avoid excessive self-citation (maximum 10%)

Ethical Requirements
Research Ethics
- Studies involving human participants must have ethics committee approval
- Include ethics approval number and issuing institution in the Methods section
- Informed consent must be obtained from all participants
Authorship
- All listed authors must have made substantial contributions
- Ghost authorship and gift authorship are not permitted
- Corresponding author is responsible for ensuring all co-authors approve the final version
Declarations Required
Authors must include the following statements at the end of their manuscript:
- Author Contributions: Specify each author's contribution
- Funding: Acknowledge funding sources or state "No funding received"
- Conflicts of Interest: Declare any conflicts or state "None declared"
- Ethics Approval: Include approval details if applicable
- Data Availability: Describe data accessibility
Plagiarism Policy
Important: All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software (iThenticate/Turnitin).
- Overall similarity must be below 20%
- Single source similarity must be below 5%
- Manuscripts exceeding these limits will be rejected
Submission Process
- Register/Login to the submission system
- Prepare your manuscript using the template
- Remove all author identifying information for blind review
- Upload your manuscript (Word format)
- Upload a separate title page with author details
- Complete the submission checklist
- Submit and await confirmation email

- Initial Decision: 7 days (desk review)
- Peer Review: 4-6 weeks
- Revision Period: 2-4 weeks (depending on revision type)
- Final Decision: Within 60 days of submission
- Publication: 3 days after acceptance
